In what has become an annual rite of spring, SAMA members and guests gathered at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale for the April luncheon sponsored by Southeast Toyota Distributors.
Brian Frometa, Field Operations Manager, previewed the revamped 2020 ToyotaCorolla and Gina Arserio, Accessories Marketing Specialist, gave an overview of the operation at Southeast Toyota Distributors, which is touted as the world’s largest franchised distributor of Toyota vehicles.
The 172 dealers in the five states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina & South Carolina account for 20 percent of Toyota sales in the UnitedStates. Frometa noted that as it moves into its 12th generation this Corolla"is the most fun-to-drive Corolla that has ever existed."
For the first time it is offered as a hybrid in addition to the familiar 1.8-liter engine and an available, more powerful 2.0-liter. See the videos for their presentations.
In a brief business session, President Paul Borden said we are getting commitments from manufacturers for the annual Topless in Miami Presented by Haartz, which is coming up at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne on May 23.
John Kiskinis was on hand to hand out passes for the Fort Lauderdale Auto Show.Members got a first-hand look at the vehicles that were on display on the floor below the luncheon site. He also confirmed that the Miami International AutoShow will be Nov. 1-10 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Secretary Woodie Lesesne urged members to continue to "stay engaged" with SAMA and its activities and to make sure all of your contact information is complete and accurate.
Vice President Daniel Alvarez said progress is being made on a SAMA media kit being prepared by Yvonne Lorie. When completed, the media kit will be an instrument that we hope helps attract sponsors for various SAMA events.
